Mayor Harry Stonebraker has been re-elected to a fourth term in the small town of Winfield in Missouri, about a month after his death, with 90% of the votes.
Similarly in Missouri’s 2000 U.S. Senate race, Democrat candidate Mel Carnahan died in a plane crash a few weeks before the election, but still defeated Republican John Ashcroft.
